UltraFitnessDynamics Review: The Ultimate Antioxidant
While there are any number of helpful and effective products supporting health and fitness, a rare handful are so far above the rest in power and effectiveness, that we feel obligated to bring them to our visitors’ attention. Among them are a set of products from Baseline Nutritionals. Not only are the products themselves the clear leaders in their class, but Baseline head, Jon Barron, has provides clear, engaging and thoroughly comprehensive descriptions and rationales for each of his firm’s products.
Claims of effectiveness are everywhere in the health and fitness field, but hard evidence and rational support all too rarely rise above the anecdotal. Barron’s products and website are a shining exception. Few product suppliers provide such informative detail to potential purchasers or offer a richer and more detailed resource for understanding the value and necessity of particular types of nutrients and supplements. In particular, utilizing the purest most bioavailable form of a component, combined with elements that work synergistically to support the efficacy of the primary antioxidants are the key to the success of these products. Simply adding more of a substance is not necessarily better, and may indeed prove harmful. Barron’s approach focuses both upon safety and quality.
One type of supplement that must be regarded as an absolute necessity in securing and advancing optimal health is a premium antioxidant.
Why Antioxidants?
Antioxidants are critical to good health and long life, because antioxidants reduce the number of and damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals, to use a metaphor, are a kind of molecular cancer. Our body produces them naturally, in the course of the metabolic process, but pollution, radiation, smoking, pesticides, numerous food additives, and an entire range of elements in the modern environment result in a seemingly endless supply.
The results can be devastating: free radicals damage DNA, alter biochemical compounds, corrode cell membranes, even destroying cells directly. Many scientists believe that free radicals are the principal culprit driving both aging and disease, and many believe that the use of antioxidant supplements may not only provide a strong defense against premature aging and an immune system at risk, but may play a significant role in actually reversing many of the effects of aging and disease.

Why the Ultimate Antioxidant?
Of all the antioxidant supplements on the market, the Ultimate Antioxidant is unquestionably one of the leaders.
Based upon years of study and expertise in the health field, Barron set out to create what he calls “The Ultimate Antioxidant”. Allowing that, as science advances and new ways to maintain potency as whole-food complexes are incorporated, the formula will likely continue to be enhanced and tweaked, Barron’s existing formula brings together a stronger and better balanced spectrum of supplement ingredients as compared with comparable products.
The principal elements in the Ultimate Antioxidant are Alpha and Beta Carotene (Vitamin A), Lutein, Zeaxanthin, Lycopene, Selenium, NAC, L-Methionine, Quercetin, Ginkgo Biloba, Curcumin, Green Tea Extract, Bilberry, Alpha-Lipoic Acid, SOD, Tocotrienols, Grape Seed Extract, Resveratrol, Chaparral Extract, Catalase, Biotin, and Bioperine. Studies have shown these components to be critical to any serious attempt to maintain or boost an effective defense against free radical damage:
Vitamin A as Alpha and Beta Carotene
Beta carotene is converted by the body into vitamin A. While synthetic beta carotene (made from acetylene gas) is not recommended, natural beta carotene has been shown to inhibit cancer cells affecting the lungs, stomach, cervix, breast, bladder, and mouth, as well as guard against atherosclerosis, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Beta carotene is not the most important of the carotenoids, only the one that has been recommended as a daily requirement by the FDA. As Barron rightly points out, alpha carotene has also been shown to have a strong inhibitory effect on cancer cells similar to those mentioned above. In sum: those interested in a premium antioxidant need a carotenoid complex that includes beta and alpha forms, not synthetic beta carotene alone.
Lutein
In addition to having anti-cancer properties, Lutein lowers the risk of macular degeneration by over 50%. Combined with Zeaxanthin, bilberry, and vitamin C, this combination significantly decreases the risk of cataracts as well.
Lycopene
Used in conjunction with vitamin E and green tea extract, studies indicate that Lycopene inhibits prostate cancer by roughly 90%, and may have a positive impact on bladder cancer as well.

Selenium (methylselenocysteine)
Selenium enhances and is enhanced by glutathione and Catalase, all of which help protect the integrity of cell membranes. It is reported as helping to stop the growth of tumors, and for its impact in protecting the liver. Indeed, a number of studies indicate that selenium may be 50 to 100 times stronger than any other anti-carcinogen. Low levels of selenium have been associated with heart disease death, breast cancer, prostate cancer, colon cancer, and virtually every other form of cancer. Some supplements provide selenium in an inorganic form (selenite or selenate), but such use decreases absorbability and raises toxicity concerns. By instead using the organic methylselenocysteine form in the amount of 140 mcg, the Barron formula nearly doubles selenium levels, avoiding toxicity concerns, and improving absorbability.
N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC)
High levels of glutathione are key to a healthy immune system, but, despite sales efforts to the contrary, simply ingesting glutathione supplements is not helpful. Rather, taking N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) serves to boost glutathione levels significantly. (Urban dwellers note: NAC supplementation also protects against toxic aldehydes that attack the body via cigarette smoke and pollution).
L-Methionine
Methionine works as a powerful SAMe precursor, helping to synthesize choline, adrenaline, lecithin, and B12, and is an essential sulfur amino acid, antioxidant and liver detoxifier.
Quercetin
Quercetin is a bioflavonoid that prevents histamines entering the bloodstream, and so helps control food and pollen allergies. It also provides anti-inflammatory benefits and has shown potential as a tool in combating cancer.
Gingko Biloba
The well-known supplement Gingko Biloba oxygenates the blood, increases circulation, strengthens blood vessels, and its anti-inflammatory properties have proved useful in treating asthma. Sometimes referred to as “the brain antioxidant”, gingko has been shown to improve concentration and memory and significantly reduce depression, making it a recommended supplement for Alzheimer’s disease.
Curcumin
Certain studies have demonstrated the ability of Curcumin to inhibit colon cancer cells by some 96% in a matter of hours, and may have potential in countering the effects of prostate cancer and breast cancer. The effect of Curcumin – which gives turmeric its yellow color – is highly synergistic with the effects of green tea.
Green tea extract
Green tea is the first known natural telomerase inhibitor: it destroys the enduring quality of cancer cells and, in effect, can make them age and die. Green tea assists in battling leukemia, prostate cancer, and breast cancer, and is effective in regulating blood sugar, and in reversing to some degree some of the effects of heart disease. It also serves as a MAO inhibitor, protecting the brain from brain-cell death involving glucose oxidase. Green tea extract may play a major role in protecting against both Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, and is reported to significantly reduce cancer-causing DNA damage in smokers.
Bilberry
Anthocyanosides in bilberry help repair the tiny capillaries within the eye, and assist the connective tissue that lines blood vessels and binds the body’s ligaments
Alpha-Lipoic Acid
Alpha-Lipoic Acid, like NAC, boosts critically important glutathione levels in body cells, helps generate energy in mitochondria; in addition to recycling vitamins E and C, and has been shown to significantly maintain and even improve cognitive skills of people during the course of aging.
SOD
SOD (Superoxide dismutase), alongside glutathione, helps neutralize reactive oxygen molecules, and specifically targets the superoxide radical, which attacks cell mitochondria, crippling the cell’s ability to convert food to energy, which leads to cellular death. SOD also fights the hydroxyl radical, hampering it from attacking enzymes, proteins, and the unsaturated cell membrane fats.
Tocotrienols
Tocotrienols are a unique fraction of vitamin E forty times more powerful than standard vitamin E. Rich in gamma tocopherol, it inhibits both estrogen-responsive and non-estrogen responsive breast cancer cells.
Grape Seed Extract
Grape seed extract is the supreme defender of the circulatory system. It revives declining capillary activity by as much as 140%, and can increase vascular response by as much as 82%. It helps prevent bruising, amplifies the positive effects of vitamin C, and even helps repair varicose veins.
Resveratrol
In controlled studies, Resveratrol has reduced skin-cancer tumors by as much as 98%, and slowed and even apparently halted the production of certain leukemia cells. Resveratrol – found in the skin and seeds of grapes — is a naturally occurring antioxidant that helps blood vessels remain open, and has estrogen-like properties. It can also strongly inhibit glucose uptake in HL-60 and U937 cells, and so may prevent or somewhat minimize the effects of metabolic disorders such as obesity and non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (Type 2).
Resveratrol is also the subject of a landmark 2003 study in which Resveratrol was shown to have extended the life span of yeast cells by seventy percent, apparently by activating a “longevity gene” expressed during caloric restriction. Since mammals have the same “longevity gene” and since caloric restriction is known to extend the lifespan of mammals, scientists have speculated that taking Resveratrol supplements could similarly enhance human longevity.
Chaparral Extract
The active antioxidant in Chaparral is a lignan called Nordihydroguaiaretic Acid (NDGA). It specifically targets virtually all forms of the herpes virus – with reported positive results reaching as high as 97.5% effectiveness. It also counters radiation-induced free radical damage, and may be useful in the prevention of Alzheimer’s and rheumatoid arthritis. .
Catalase
The body produces three primary enzymes as its antioxidant defense: glutathione perioxidase, superoxide dismutase, and Catalase. One Catalase enzyme molecule can catalyze the breakdown of five million molecules of peroxide radicals into water and oxygen in just one minute, and it is regarded as a prime defender against tumors.
Biotin
Biotin is needed to balance high doses of Alpha-Lipoic Acid: Alpha-Lipoic Acid and biotin compete for certain functions.
Bioperine
Barron notes that in human studies, the bioavailability of Curcumin was increased twentyfold when used with Bioperine. Bioperine is also reported to improve the absorption of numerous vitamins and biochemicals in the intestine, promotes vitamin and biochemical retention in cells and retards their metabolization in the liver. Essentially this component works to increase the efficacy of nearly all of the ingredients in the Ultimate Antioxidant formula.
Other Antioxidants
There are other antioxidants worth taking, but they are not included in Ultimate Antioxidant partly because of their common presence in nearly every well-balanced diet. Readers are invited to review Barron’s list, but the recommendations are such as any nutritional plan with a reasonable awareness of the need for antioxidants could be expected to include – items such as Vitamin E, Vitamin C, strawberries, pomegranates, broccoli, blueberries and so on.
While those items are common, however, the range, balance and rationale behind Jon Barron’s creation of the Ultimate Antioxidant are not. We believe that it stands head and shoulders above any comparable supplement, and that any comparison will show the Barron formula to be far superior in its choice of elements and in the positive effect they can be expected to have on one’s health.
In our opinion there is no antioxidant complex remotely as strong in its span of valuable components, its proportions and combination, or its likely effectiveness. Check it out. Buy it. Use it. Your health is too important to neglect this vital component!
The company is so certain of the benefits of this formula, that it backs the product with a 60-day (no questions asked) full refund as part of its customer satisfaction guarantee. The results from the consistent use of this remarkable product by a master formulator will yield health benefits and ward off disease, contributing to unparralled quality of life.
